Review for Preeti Sandwich & Juice Centre, Kopar Khairane, Navi Mumbai

Not just a sandwich shop but it's got so much more packed in the menu. With just 3-4 tables the place seems to be more of a home delivery joint. But we enjoy our sandwiches crisp and hot and not soggy hence decided to visit this place.

What we saw in the menu other than sandwiches was rolls which seems to be quiet a favorite as every person on the other tables seemed to be having it or seen ordering it. Yes... One of us has this bad habit to look around a little too much to see what others are eating and how their facial expression goes like when they take bites into the food.

Well so we first ordered the Pahadi Cheese Grill and a Veg Cheese Roll. Had to wait a bit too long for our order but it was worth the wait. The bread was grilled to perfection. The vegetables was fresh and the masala stuffing that went with the cheese was delicious. Each sandwich plate came with a garlic chutney which was to die for and a common green chutney and a portion of crisp potato wafers. Our next order, the Veg Cheese Roll was was OK with loads and loads of cheese bursting in our mouth with every bite.

We were quiet full with just 2 items. Not because we weren't hungry but because the sandwiches was huge and the stuffing was in the true sense stuffed in large quantities.

What followed these spicy, masaledar, hot, crisp, delicious sandwich was the cold, creamy, sugary dessert. The Strawberry Cream. It was very different from the usual fruit cream that we generally have at various joints. This had stiff peaks and was neither liquidy nor solid but was light , foamy but thick and creamy. I am at a loss of words and I just think one must have it to experience the feeling.

They also had a large variety of juices which they personally recommended, but we decided to skip as we had decided to have the huge dessert.
I guess once in a while if you want to eat "light" and feel light on your pockets do visit this place. Fresh and wholesome.

Review for: Piccadilly Restaurant, Colaba, Mumbai

Sometimes a good dining experience is ruined by the people who serve it. This place seems to be an exception though. I wanted to visit this place one more time since my last experience wasn't too memorable to be penned down as an review.

As an famous quote goes "A recipe has no soul, You must bring soul to the recipe".
It looked like the staff working here are at constant war with each other. I experienced this in my last visit too. What started as an simple argument ended up with an very abusive fight. And frankly, no one needs witness an live AIB roast while dining.
This unpleasant "War of the staff-II" sequel made our dining experience a complete disaster. We ordered the Grilled Chicken (Tandoori full) priced 210/- Served with two Kuboos (Pita bread). The chicken would have killed itself if it knew it was going to be made in such an awful way. Mostly rubbery and tasteless.

Following the first disaster came the Cocktail Veg (Platter) priced 320/- which was quite decent aesthetically. But the assortment was quite weird, It had Falafel, French fries, Paneer gravy, Sauteed Veggies, and salad, served with Hummus and Kuboos. Except for the combination, the falafel, fries and the sauteed veggies were quite okay.

Since we had enough (of everything) here, we decided to wind up with a dessert elsewhere. But we noticed that almost every table had ordered the Caramel Custard and we decided to take the risk too. Priced at 70/- it was a decision we wouldn't regret. The custard was thicker and creamy than the ones we've had before. Perfect on the sweetness too.

This place is a one time visit if you dare to be undaunted by the behavior. Order carefully only after confirming there is no riot in the kitchen. Do not miss the Caramel Custard.

Review for: Vikings, Sanpada, Navi Mumbai

Dine on cloud 9...that is exactly wat it felt like dining on this 14th floor restaurant. Awesome view which will keep you busy and enthralled for the first 5 minutes.

Once we settled down with the menu in hand but still not able to totally concentrate on it as the tiny flashlights of the cars headlights in ground level made the road look very nice. Back to the menu which seemed a little confusing as I felt it was not demarcated properly as per cuisines.

Nevertheless we settled on being vegetarian for today. We called for Kashmiri stuffed tandoori ALU which was great and layered on the outside with crispy Seasame seeds. Main course comprised of variety of Roti and Naan and a Chef Special Sabzi which was spicy, creamy, pungent, and all good things together.
We also had the Paneer Keema with spinach preparation which was also cooked to perfection.

A must mention was what they served as an entree, A glass of chilli viniger which had strips of cucumber carrots and radish..Something which I have never had before. A special appreciation for adding it.

Lastly though we wanted to have the dessert which was a chef special too. But were too full to indulge anymore. Will come back for it soon.

Review for: Ramanayak Udipi, Matunga, Mumbai

It’s the delicious subtlety of the South Indian fare that makes you come back for more and more. Be it the crisp Dosa, the tangy Rasam or the coconut infused curries which goes well with a wholesome meal designed for people with a huge appetite.

And now imagine eating this same food every single day. Can't right ? Well, that's the case with many who have been frequenting this place for years. Sure enough the menu is tweaked a little bit every single day. But the mains remain the same.

Being born and brought up in Matunga, everyone had to visit this place atleast a couple of times as a compulsion. Especially on weekends or when you have sudden guests at your doorstep. This place came to the rescue as it was easier to carry home the perfect meal rather than cooking for the whole bunch.

If you categorize restaurants as Affordable - Reasonable - Expensive, this restaurant is the Most Affordable keeping in mind the cost to quantity ratio.

Now talking about the dining experience. Though you may find the place missing the hygiene as it's always overcrowded. They tend to maintain their cleanliness mark to a certain extent. One can even visit their kitchen on specified timings with prior intimation. Everything is cooked fresh and is consumed immediately.

The meal part consists of two varieties. One is a limited meal with servings approximately made to suit most of us. Ofcourse with an option of buying extra items thru coupons. The second one is for people with a hearty appetite, needless to say it's unlimited till you ask them to stop. The taste has been consistent over the years. And is rather appreciable for the cost they charge. Must Visits whenever you are in Matunga.

Review for: 70 beans Sanpada, Navi Mumbai.

Located at some corner of sanpada this eatery is kinda niche compared to restaurants and bars surrounding it. But when we entered "Tujhe na dekhun chain" song was playing. Such a song for a classy looking restaurant, not too appealing.

We settled in the comfortable couch for 4 and placed our orders. Meal for 2 @ 597/-. We had a choice of choosing 2 items (1 veg +1 non veg) from 6 options in each category. The options weren't too much or too interesting.
What came for the price we paid was 4 pieces of chicken bites and 10 piece potato wedges. Straight out of a McCains ready to fry packet. Dint look like it was freshly made. Being a foodie we instantly recognised it. So I really dont want to score it.
Beverage was the Virgin Mint Mojito which truly was heavenly and a Peach Iced Tea which was really refreshing. 3 cheers to it !
Main course was the Four Cheese Sandwich in the veg section. The description said 4 different cheese combined with caramelised onion and glazed tomato, but wasn't so as described. It was Cottage Cheese and some normal Cheese with loads of capsicum and tomatoes. I called for the waiter and asked regarding the onions and he said it was finely chopped. Some story I seriously couldn't buy. So I gave back the other half and asked him to add the caramelised onion. Moreover why was there capsicum in my sandwich when it was not mentioned in the description. I somehow just ate it up without further complaints.
Over to the Non Veg Sandwich which was a part of the Non Veg selection seemed to be tasty and just like the way it was described in the menu. It had the caramelized onions and was grilled to perfection.
Something I really liked about the place was that the waiters didn't stand behind ur table to take orders as soon as u sat down. They waited to be called for. Gave us out own sweet time to go through the length and breadth of the menu card.
There were also a few board games and the pool table at one end which could be the reason we might visit the place again.
But overall I felt they were on the expensive side for what they were actually offering. One time visit and stick to the tall glass of cold coffees concoctions & a good game of pool combo..
Worth it !!!

Review for: The J, Churchgate, Mumbai

Whoever said French Fries should be considered as accompaniments shall be proved wrong by 'The J'. For it's no longer "Yes I want fries with that" anymore. It is "I'll have more fries with that fries".

Like they say 'Big things come in small packages' this place is hard to miss even though it is a small outlet inside a building, very close to Samrat Thali in Churchgate. We bumped into this place when we were looking for alternatives to Samrat, and to our surprise the menu and the reviews of fellow Zomatians just dragged us there.

As it was our first visit we were quite indecisive, but were made aware of all the must haves by the guy at the counter. Thanks to him we ended up with the most amazing experience one could have out of simple fries.

The combinations and varieties are endless, They serve their famous Home Lovin Fries, Burgers, Wraps, and Desserts. We were suggested to try the Chilli Cheese fries. Trust me, it can't get better than this. It was a great combination of a semi sweet chilli sauce along with melted cheese. Like all the fries get a bit soggy in a while, this one got soggy too, but still, no complaints. The Sauce and Cheese just made it perfect.

We then had the Pizza Wedges, which was potato wedges marinated and tossed in Pizza sauce and Cheese. Looked simple but tasted amazing. I would prefer it to be a little more spicy.

Following the vegetarian order I tried the Chicken fries called 'J in the Jungle'. It was the similar chilli cheese fries only with an addition of shredded chicken. It was a perfect match. The marination was light so that the chilli and cheese could blend.

The last order for that day was Ofcourse the Burger. We decided on the Vegetable burger, which was a basic potato patty crumb fried to perfection along with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. More like a indian version of the burger.

Everything in this place was worth visiting, the food, the packaging and the pricing. Sure to visit this place till we've tried almost everything from the menu.
